This object is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. The djed pillar may have started as a tree trunk, but it came to represent the backbone of the god Osiris. Osiris was a god of the dead, and the djed amulet was one of the mmost common amulets that the Egyptians placed with the dead to help ensure rebirth. This is a djed amulet. It is made from faience.
