It is from the a cemetery at el-Amra. This large jar was probably meant to hold beer, or possibly food such as grain or preserved meat. This is a jar. It is made from clay. It is at least 5,100 years old, dating to the Pre-dynastic Period (about 5500-3100 BCE).
