This is a beaded necklace.

It is from Grave A14 at Qurna, Thebes. The ancient Egyptians called faience tjehenet – derived from ‘shining’ or ‘dazzling’ – and was linked with light symbolic of life, rebirth and immortality. Someone buried these tiny beads with a person, perhaps because they were a favourite (or only) piece of jewellery, perhaps because of the link between faience and rebirth. This is a beaded necklace. It is made from faience. It is about 4,000 years old, dating to the 11th Dynasty (2055-1985 BCE) in the Middle Kingdom.
