This is a pot for holding kohl.

It is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. Two monkeys or baboons are carved holding the sides of this kohl pot. The monkeys wear collars, suggesting they represent pets. The pot is missing its lid. This is a pot for holding kohl. It is made from a type of stone called anhydrite. It is about 3,800 years old, dating to the 12th Dynasty (about 1985-1795 BCE) in the Middle Kingdom.
