This is a sandal.
It is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. Some people were buried with a change of clothes. These did not have to be real, as even flimsy sandals made from papyrus would become real when needed in the Afterlife. A 19th century tourist to Egypt bought this sandal as a ‘mummy sandal’, although it may have been an ordinary sandal and not one made especially for burial. Sandals were made like this, although palm leaf would not last very long in real life. This is a sandal. It is woven from rush or reed. The age of this sandal is not known.
