This is a heart scarab amulet with incised hieroglyphs from the Book of the Dead on the bottom.

This object is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. Egyptians feared that their heart might testify against them when they were judged after death. Embalmers often placed heart scarabs within the bandages to prevent this. The inscription on the bottom of this example is a confusion of chapters 26 & 27: ‘The speech: My heart is in me in the house of hearts; my heart is in me in the house of hearts. Hail to thee my heart! Hail to thee my besek.’ This is a heart scarab amulet with incised hieroglyphs from the Book of the Dead on the bottom. It is carved in stone. It is over 3300 years old, dating to the 18th, 19th or 20th Dynasty (1550-1295 BCE) in the New Kingdom.
