This is a carved stone bust of a man.
This object is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. The fine working of this stone is typical of the 26th Dynasty. The smooth style gives the statue a softness that disguises how hard this stone is to work with. Only the richer, high officials in government service would have been able to afford to commission such a statue of themselves. Many of these statues were placed in shrines. This is a carved stone bust of a man. It is made from basalt stone. It is over 2,500 years old, dating to the 26th Dynasty (664-525 BCE) in the Late Period.
