This is a child’s tunic.

It is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. It may be from Hawara. Roman fashion influenced the Coptic period clothing. Most people wore a tunic, and children wore smaller versions of what their parents wore. Clothes such as this hooded tunic have survived because they were used to wrap bodies for burial. This is a child’s tunic. It is woven from linen and wool. It is about 1,500 years old, dating from the Coptic period (about 395-641 CE).
