This is a coffin containing a mummifed child.

It is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown.

We do not know the actual figures, but children in ancient Egypt were at risk from disease and accidents, and many died young. Protective amulets and spells and herbal and magical medicine was often not enough to save a child from dying of diarrhoea or infection from a wound.

 

This is a coffin containing a mummifed child. The coffin is made from wood. The mummy is bone and flesh. It is over 2,500 years old, dating to the 25th or 26th Dynasty (720-550 BCE) in the Late Period.
