This is a jar with an integral strainer in the neck.
It is from Hut-Sekhem, Diaspolis Parva, in Hiw. This was possibly used for making beer, as the strainer would hold back much of the barley mash from which beer was made. This is a jar with an integral strainer in the neck. It is made from clay. It is over 5,000 years old, dating to the Predynastic Period (5500-3100 BCE).
