This is a bright blue finger ring with the name of the pharaoh Horemheb on it, in a cartouche.

This object is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. Finger rings were used as ornamentation and were considered to provide protection in some instances. The name of the king on this one perhaps gave royal protection to the wearer. Horemheb was the last king of the 18th Dynasty. He was a soldier who became pharaoh about 1323 BCE. His claim to the throne was perhaps through his powerful position as an army leader, possibly through his wife who may have been Queen Nefertiti’s sister. It is over 3,300 years old, dating to the 18th Dynasty in the reign of Horemheb (1323-1295 BCE) in the New Kingdom.
