This is the head of an axe.
It is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. The Egyptian soldier could use a mace. slingstone, spear, bow and arrow, axe or knife against the enemy. Metal axe blades were attached to a wooden handle with cord or leather thongs. In the New Kingdom the blades became longer than before. This made them more effective, especially against an enemy wearing body armour. This is the head of an axe. It is made from a copper alloy. It is over 3,300 years old, dating to the 18th Dynasty (1550-1295 BCE) in the New Kingdom Period.
