During the birth, Bes was believed to dance about the room, shaking his rattle and yelling to frighten away demons that would otherwise put a curse on the child. The Egyptians believed that carrying an amulet like this would protect a mother or a child from harm. This is an amulet of the god Bes. It is made from faience. We do not know how old this object is.
