This is an amulet of the god Bes.
It is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. Bes was primarily the protector of childbirth. During the birth, Bes would dance about the room, shaking his rattle and yelling to frighten away demons that would otherwise put a curse on the child. This type of amulet had the head of Bes on one side, and a wedjat or Eye of Horus on the other. Both symbols gave protection. This is an amulet of the god Bes. It is made from faience. This style dates from about 3,000 years ago, from the Third Intermediate Period (1069-747 BCE).
