This is a comb.

It is from el-Sheikh ‘abada (Antinoe). These two combs have fine and coarse teeth. Hair nits or lice were a problem 1,500 years ago, when this comb was made and used. Going back some thousand years before that, nits have been found in the hair of several mummies that have been unwrapped and examined. This is a comb. It is made from wood. It is about 1,500 years old, dating to the Byzantine Period (about CE 401-500).
