This is a headrest.
It is from Luxor. This headrest is carved from two pieces of wood, fitting together with a mortise and tenon joint. The top of the tenon can be seen in the curved head rest. It was used as a pillow. This is a headrest. It is made from wood. It at least 3,600 BCE, and dates from the Old Kingdom, First Intermediate Period or Middle Kingdom (about 2686-1650 BCE).
