This is a large jar.
It is probably from the B cemetery at Ab’adiya (Diospolis Parva). This bowl is probably from a tomb. It could have been used as a storage jar for honey, wine or other foodstuffs. It is not always clear whether the family of the dead person bought pots made especially for burial, or whether they used old household pots. This is a jar. It is made from clay. It is at least 5,100 years old, dating to the Pre-dynastic Period (about 5500-3100 BCE).
