This is a kohl pot.
It is from Saft el-Hinna, possibly from Grave 499. This hand-built kohl pot was used for eye make-up (kohl). The owner may have had two colours in the two tubes, a black and a green. Kohl helped to protect the eyes against bright sun, and men, women and children used it. This is a kohl pot. It is made from faience. It is between 3,200 and 3,600 years old, dating to the 18th or 19th Dynasty (1550-1186 BCE) in the New Kingdom.
