It is from Deir Rifa. The ancient Egyptians made mirrors from polished metal, usually a copper alloy. Although it does not look much like a mirror now, the original highly polished surface would have worked well for applying makeup and combing hair or arranging a wig. This is a mirror. The mirror is made from copper alloy, and the handle is made from wood. It is about 3,400 years old, dating to the 18th Dynasty (about 1550-1295 BCE) in the New Kingdom.
