This is a kneeling figure of the goddess Nephthys.
It is from Abydos. Figures of this goddess were often placed in tombs. She has a prominent part in the myth of Osiris and was one of the four protector goddesses of coffins and canopic jars. Here she is shown in an attitude of mourning, with one hand over her face and the other on her knee as signs of silence and respect. This is a kneeling figure of the goddess Nephthys. It is made from wood. It is over 2,350 years old, dating to the 30th Dynasty (380-343 BCE) in the Late Period.
