This is the coffin and mummy of a woman called Nesi-Khonsu. It is from Thebes. Nesi-Khonsu was a Lady of the House, that is a married woman. Her father was Doorkeeper of the House of Gold of Amun, Porter of Montju Lord of Thebes, Habi. Her mother was Lady of the House, Ta-ikesh. Her coffin is typical of the period when she died, with the inside and out covered in prayers for the dead. This is the coffin and mummy of a woman called Nesi-Khonsu. The coffin is made from wood. The mummy is made of human tissue and linen. It is over 2,600 years old, dating to the 26th Dynasty (650-600 BCE) in the Third Intermediate Period.
