This is a strainer straw.

It is from grave D226 at Abydos. This pierced tube may be a strainer to fit in the end of a straw, designed to siphon wine or beer from its pot. Tipping the pot to pour the drink would disturb the sediment at the bottom of the pot, making the drink cloudy and unpleasant to drink. Using a strainer straw meant that the drink stayed clear. Beer was an essential food offering for the Afterlife, so a strainer straw might also be considered essential. This is a strainer straw. It is made from copper alloy. It is at least 3,300 years old, dating to the 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom (about 1550-1295 BCE).
