This is a headrest.

It is from Thebes. The Egyptians used headrests instead of pillows. Some were padded for extra comfort but most were not. Some were customised to fit an individual’s head. People would have slept on their side when using a headrest. They are still used today in Kenya and other parts of Africa. This is a headrest. It is made from wood. We do not know how old this object is.
