This is a bow.

It is from Beni Hassan. The ancient Egyptians used bows and arrows for warfare and for hunting. Bows were made of wood, with a gut string. The arrows were made from hard-stemmed reeds. Probably only the pharaoh and nobles went hunting. They hunted a wide range of animals for sport as much as for meat. The lion, elephant, wild deer, wild bull, crocodile, rhinoceros and hippopotamus were all game for royal or noble hunters. This is a bow. It is made from wood. It is at least 3,800 years old, dating to the 12th Dynasty (about 1985-1795 BCE) in the Middle Kingdom.
