This is a paint palette and grinder.

It is from Tell Nabasha. The Egyptian artist had to prepare his own paints, or employ an assistant to do it for him. They used a stone palette to grind the pigment to a powder. The artist then mixed the powder with a binder of plant gum or animal glue. Artists employed by the state, such as the men painting the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, were supplied with their materials by the state. This is a paint palette and grinder. It is made from stone. We do not know how old this object is.
