This is a finger ring.
It is from Saft el-Hinna, possibly grave 690. Jewellery was worn for adornment. It might also give some spiritual protection. This ring has a figure of a monkey and the hieroglyphic sign nefer, which means ‘good’. Perhaps people believed that wearing a ring with the nefer sign would bring them good. This is a finger ring. It is made from faience. It is about 3,400 years old, dating to the 18th Dynasty (about 1550-1295 BCE) in the New Kingdom.
