This is a winged scarab amulet.
It is from Egypt but the exact location is unknown. Winged scarabs were sewn onto the linen wrapping or the bead network covering of a mummy. The holes along the sides of the body and the wings were for attachment. Winged scarabs, like heart scarabs, protected the body for the Afterlife. Unlike heart scarabs, they were not inscribed with Chapter 30 of the Book of the Dead, the prayer to stop the heart speaking against its owner at the test of the Weighing of the Heart. This is a winged scarab amulet. It is made from faience. We do not know how old this object is.
